Sri geetha Nritya Kala Mandir was established in the year 1955 and it gave its first performance on 16-4-1955 at Vizianagaram in connection with anniversary celebrations of the Income tax and Central excise officials Recreation club. In the same year the members of this institution exhibited their talents by giving a performance at Berhampore in the presence of the Orissa Minister Sri Lingaraju Panigrahi and other ministers, during the annual session of the Utkal Nrithya Sangeeta Natya Kala Parishad.

Mahishasura Vadha (Devi Chamundeswari ), a dance drama was exhibited by the members in the presence of all India Horticultural Exhibition held at Visakhapatnam. A performance was also given at Berhampore during yhe all India Co-operative week festivals.

Participated in the festival competition held at Delhi under the auspicies of the Akhila Bharata Praja Nritya Mandali (IPTA) when Sri D Y Sampath Kumar exhibited his Jalari fisherman dance for which he was awarded the first prize and title Andhra Jalari. Sri Sampath Kumar exhibited his wonderful Jalari dance thrice before sixty Thousand audience and won applauses and appreciation from then Vice President Dr.Radha Krishnan, Indira Gandhi. Gave a performance at Bhavani Patnam in the presence of the Orissa Governor Sri Y.N. Suktankar, during the annual session of the Utkal Nritya Sageeta Natya Kala Parishad and won encomiums.

Mahishasura Vadha a dance drama was performed at Gudivada during the Andhra Nataka Kala Parishad competition celebrations, and got encomiums from the State artists and critics. A performance was given at Bhuvaneswar in the presence of the Orissa Chief Minister Dr.H.K Mehatab during the All India Hand Loom week celebrations. Sri Sampath kumar was honoured by the people of Pithapuram with Gajarohanam Elephant Ride.

‘At the invitation of the Andhra Pradesh Natya Sangam, this institution for the first time, gave its performance in the twin city of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and won praises of honour.

‘At the request of the people, this institution participated in the all World Agricultural Festival performance held at Delhi giving performances continuously for three days. Gave performances at Guntur during State Youth Federation Conference, and at the Andhra University, Waltair during All India Sugarcane Workers Conference and at Hyderabad during All India Telugu Writers Conference when the then Vice President Sri S.Radha Krishnan and Central Minister Sri B.gopala Reddi were present. Rajahumundry Municipality honoured Sri Sampath Kumar by presenting a civic address.

‘Sponsered by the A.P Sangeeta Nataka Academy to take part in the Sanskrit Drama Competitions held at Ujjaini in connection with the All India Kalidasa Jayanti Festival celebrations, put on boards the Sanskrit Drama ‘Abhiganana Sakuntalam’ for which ‘Suvarna Kalasam’ worth about Rs.5000/- was awarded as the first prize among the 14 States that entered the competition.

In the same year participated in the festival celebrations held at Calcutta in connection with Tagore Centenary and put on boards the dance drama, ‘KabuliWala’ for which first prize was awarded.

Gave performance at Vijayawada during the All India Communist Party Conference.

The dance drama ‘Kabuli Wala‘ was broadcast from the Vijayawada Radio Station in the form of a drama.

In the same year, under the Inter State Cultural exchange scheme, sponsored by the Central Government, this institution gave performances at Chandigarh. Jullundur, Ludhianan, Firozpur, Rohtak etc., in the Punjab State in the presence of the then State Governor Sri Gadgil and Chief Minister Sri Pratap Singh Kiron and won their laudable praise.

Gave performance at Tirupathi during the All India Youth Congress in the presence of the late Sri Lal Bahadur Sastri.

Under the auspicies of A.P.S.N. Academy, members of this institution put on boards the Sanskrit drama ‘Sakuntalam’ in Ravindra Bharati Theatre, at Hyderabad before the then president Dr. Radhakrishnan the then Prime Minister Jawaharal Nehru, Kamaraja Nadar, Nijalingappa, Numburipad, Sajeeva Reddi, Brahamananda Reddi, Mohuiddin, Navabganj. And several other VIPS and won their applause and Praise of honour

Gave performance at Bhuvaneswar in the month of January during the All India Congress Sessions (AICC) in the presence of the then Prime Minister late Sri Nehru. In the same year gave performances continuously for three days at Indore (Madhya Pradesh), on the request of the delegates, during the lions International Club Multiple Distric, 304, eighth annual convention.

“Abhijnanana Sakuntalam” Sanskrit dance drama, performed before several Governors and Chief Ministers at Ravindra Bharati, Hyderabad drew the special acclaim of president Dr. Radhakrishna and Prime Minister Pandit Nehru.

At the request of the delegates from other nations, the members of this institution gave about 15 performances at Delhi in the Ashoka Hotel. At the Special invitation for the then President Dr. S. Radha Krishnan, they gave performances at the Rastrapathi Bhavan, and got cash prize award of Rs.500/-

On special invitation, another performance was given at the Television Centre, Delhi.

Under the direction of the A.P Sangeetha Nataka Academy Hyderabad, and under the auspicies of the Sri Geetha Nrithya Kala Mandir, competitions in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam dances at the all India level were conducted at Vizianagaram for four days, and 74 troupes participated.

Sri Geetha Nrithya Kala Mandir has the honour of producing on a large scal, a Telugu Social Play ‘Sreemanthulu’ putting it on boards continuously for four days at Vizianagaram.

On Invitation from ‘Pravasandhra Association’ Performances were given at Cuttuck, Bhuvaneswar, Kharagpur, Adra, Tata – nagar, Sindhri, Chakradharpur, Rourkela, Bondamunda, Bilaspur etc.,

The members gave performances continuously for two days at Guntur during the National Meetings of the Indo Soviet Cuitural Society (ISCUS).
